Friday Afternoon Building Beyond the Basics Intensive

This open level intensive is meant to challenge with new/diverse concepts.
Building on the Basics (Social First. Performance Second.)
This workshop is intentionally designed to support dancers across the spectrum — from strong social dancers to those stepping into competition or performance.
Hours 1 & 2: Social Dancing Foundations
The first half focuses on the skills that have the greatest immediate impact on your social dancing. We’ll refine connection, timing, musical responsiveness, and partner communication — the core elements that allow you to adapt effortlessly to different partners, music, and environments. These principles form the backbone of confident, relaxed, and high-quality West Coast Swing, no matter where or with whom you’re dancing.
Hours 3 & 4: Competition & Performance Application
The second half builds directly on those same foundations, showing how they translate into competitive and performance settings. We’ll explore structure, clarity, intentional shaping, and presentation — including how to make movement read clearly to judges or an audience while preserving partnership, musicality, and authenticity. This section is valuable whether you compete regularly, are preparing a routine, or simply want more control and polish in your dancing.
So, bring your notebook, tablet, phone, and/or any other recording device to make sure you do not miss out on any of the pearls of wisdom that will be shared throughout the training.
The intensive is 4 hours: 11:30pm - 3:30pm (Please eat before attending. There will be breaks, but not long enough for a meal.)
How much does it cost?
This intensive is $145 (this cost is in addition to the event pass). At the door pricing is $175.
Do I need a partner?
NO, this intensive is taught in a rotational format and you will learn with other attendees.

I understand West Coast Swing is a physical activity undertaken by choice at my own risk and I hereby release Best of the Best WCS, any Best of the Best WCS staff (paid or unpaid) and/or any independent contractor engaged (paid or unpaid) by Best of the Best WCS from any claim, demand, action, suit, cause of action and/or liability in relation to any damage, injury or loss suffered whether or not arising as a result of the negligence of, or breach of duty by, Best of the Best WCS, and or any paid or unpaid Best of the Best WCS staff and/or any independent contractor engaged by Best of the Best WCS.
I understand that no alcohol may be brought into the ballroom other than that purchased at the venue, and doing so puts future events at risk, and that if caught I may be asked to leave the event with no refund given.
I understand that it is my responsibility if I choose to compete to ensure my own safety and that of other competitors, as well as treating other competitors respectfully. Failure to do so may result in the disqualification from competitions at the discretion of the event director, event coordinator, and/or head judge.
I understand that there is a strictly no refund policy if I choose not to attend the event for whatever reason. My ticket, however, may be transferred and the transfer process is my responsibility.
